Difference between Humidifier and Dehumidifier

A Humidifier is capable of increasing the amount of moisture in the air while the Dehumidifier p the level of moisture in the air. People can use a hygrometer for the measurement of the moisture in the air and can elect Humidifier or Dehumidifier according to the requirement.

A Dehumidifier is used in places where the climate is very hot and the moisture level in the air is high. The Humidifier is used in locations where the climate is cold and very dry. On the basis of relative humidity we suggest people to use Dehumidifier if the relative humidity is more than 50 percent. It is better to use Humidifier if the relative humidity is less than 35 percent.

Absorption/ Dessicant:

These type of Dehumidifiers are capable of easily absorbing the moisture from the air. In this Dehumidifier one end is heated to draw the moisture and its dessicant is capable of circling around the area.

Mechanical Dehumidifier:

This type of Dehumidifier is used to draw moisture from air with the help of a rotating fan and is the most common type of Dehumidifier used.

Electronic Dehumidifier:

It creates a cold surface due to which all the moisture in the air condenses and the level of humidity decreases in the air. This type of Dehumidifier consumes less energy hence it saves both energy and money. This type of Dehumidifier makes less noise since it does not have any mechanical parts that keeps on rotating or moving.

Ionic membrane:

This device uses special type of ionic membranes that can remove water vapour from the air. Hence this also has become a great dehumidifying device specially in chemical engineering.
